HOLY FATHER ON UKRAINE

Angelus - October 15, 2023 (Sunday)

I continue to follow with great sorrow what is happening in Israel and Palestine. I think again of the many… in particular of the children and the elderly. I renew my appeal for the freeing of the hostages and I strongly ask that children, the sick, the elderly, women, and all civilians not be made victims of the conflict. Humanitarian law is to be respected, especially in Gaza, where it is urgent and necessary to ensure humanitarian corridors and to come to the aid of the entire population. Brothers and sisters, already many have died. Please, let no more innocent blood be shed, neither in the Holy Land nor in Ukraine, nor in any other place! Enough! Wars are always a defeat, always!

I am looking at the Ukrainian flags: let us not forget tormented Ukraine.

Continuo a seguire con tanto dolore quanto accade in Israele e in Palestina. Ripenso ai tanti…, in particolare ai piccoli e agli anziani. Rinnovo l’appello per la liberazione degli ostaggi e chiedo con forza che i bambini, i malati, gli anziani, le donne e tutti i civili non siano vittime del conflitto. Si rispetti il diritto umanitario, soprattutto a Gaza, dov’è urgente e necessario garantire corridoi umanitari e soccorrere tutta la popolazione. Fratelli e sorelle, già sono morti moltissimi. Per favore, non si versi altro sangue innocente, né in Terra Santa, né in Ucraina o in qualsiasi altro luogo! Basta! Le guerre sono sempre una sconfitta, sempre!

Guardo le bandiere dell’Ucraina, non dimentichiamo la martoriata Ucraina.

Saluto infine i giovani, i malati e gli sposi novelli. Vi invito a rivolgere il pensiero a Maria, invocata in questo mese di ottobre come Regina del Rosario. Per favore, perseverate insieme con Lei nella preghiera per quanti soffrono la fame, le ingiustizie e la guerra, specialmente per la cara e martoriata Ucraina. A tutti la mia Benedizione!
